422 stainless steel consists of about 11–13% chromium, 1–1.5% molybdenum, 0.2–0.3% carbon, and small amounts of nickel, tungsten, and vanadium. This martensitic alloy exhibits excellent creep resistance and oxidation resistance at high temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C).
