Stainless steel 310 washers have about 24–26% chromium and 19–22% nickel, which offer superior resistance to oxidation and strength at temperatures to 1100°C (2012°F). The 310S grade has a reduced carbon content, which improves resistance to carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion when welding. The two grades retain good mechanical properties and toughness after long exposure to elevated temperatures and thermal cycling.
