Stainless steel 316H stud bolts have about 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, with a slightly greater carbon content (about 0.04–0.10%) than in typical 316. The increased amount of carbon provides more tensile strength and creep resistance in temperatures up to 800°C (1472°F), without reducing superior corrosion resistance, particularly against chloride-induced crevice corrosion and pitting corrosion. The alloy is tough and hard-wearing in harsh environments.
